Center for the study of complex societies – NESCOM/PPGAS
The center develops research on processes of construction and transformation of social subjects within complex societies, especially in Brazil. It seeks to analyze its characteristic conditions of change, differentiation, specialization, heterogeneity and pluralism, in order to discuss general anthropological issues concerning both “traditional” and “modern” societies.
It focuses upon the networks of family, politics, art, sciences, sexuality, violence and metropolitan life styles, as means to gaining an understanding wider anthropological dynamics.
